5 October travel briefing: Seongsu in Seoul, Haeundae in Busan, and weekend dates

Monday 5 October 2026 is the substitute holiday for National Foundation Day. We suggest one programme at the festival starting today in Seongsu, Seoul, or a Haeundae Beach and Dongbaekseom walk in Busan. Choose the option near your base; this is not a one-day trip connecting both cities.

Palaces, art and markets in Seoul

Start at Gwanghwamun. Choose one exhibition you most want to see, then arrange the palace and market around it. You do not need to visit every exhibition in one day; leave some stops for another trip to allow time inside.

From forest to sea, scene by scene

Forests and coast in Gijang, Busan

This route connects forest and coastal stops in Gijang. Check each transfer separately and allow spare time. Without a car, consider focusing on the forest or the coast instead of attempting every stop in a single outing.

Busan by the sea: leave room for Haeundae and Dongbaekseom

Visit Busan presents Haeundae Beach together with nearby Dongbaekseom. A walk within one district can be a useful starting point for a coast-focused visit.

Eastern Jeju: build an unhurried day around Seongsan Ilchulbong

Visit Jeju describes Seongsan Ilchulbong as a volcanic landform created by interaction between magma and seawater. Leave time to appreciate the landscape rather than treating the summit as the only goal.

A day shaped by the colors of the sea

Eastern Jeju · Gimnyeong to Woljeongri

Give two beaches time rather than collecting stops. Explore Gimnyeong, then take a bus or taxi to Woljeongri for a sea-view break. In autumn, focus on shore walks and scenery rather than swimming; shorten outdoor stops in strong wind.

• Gimnyeong Beach

Compare pale sand, dark rocks and sea colors from public beach areas. Keep off wave-washed rocks.

• Woljeongri Beach

Finish with a coastal stroll or choose a nearby café. This route does not propose walking the entire stretch between the beaches.

From a confession to an ordinary day

Lovely Runner · Hwahongmun and Motgol Market, Suwon

Combine the drama’s romance with everyday Suwon. Rather than stopping at the fortress, continue south along Suwoncheon to the market: a good pairing for photography and food browsing. The Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival runs October 4–11, 2026; follow local event routing.

• Hwahongmun Gate

The watergate featured in Sun-jae’s confession scene. Take in the pavilion and water before heading south along Suwoncheon.

• Motgol Market

Sol and her mother shopped here in the drama. Browse rice cakes and side dishes to finish the walk. Individual stalls keep different hours.

When everyday Seoul becomes a fantasy

KPop Demon Hunters · Myeongdong to Naksan

Pair lively streets with a quiet hilltop: a rewarding contrast for fans comparing animated Seoul with the real city. Explore Myeongdong first, then take public transport toward Hyehwa before walking uphill to Naksan. Bring a layer for an autumn evening.

• Myeongdong Theater forecourt

The street outside the theater inspired the Soda Pop scene. Explore the facade and street; theater admission is not part of this route.

• Naksan Park

The fortress-wall setting appears in Rumi and Jinu’s meetings. Enjoy the skyline from public paths. Expect slopes and stairs.

A Spring Day memory in autumn

BTS Spring Day · Iryeong and Jangheung, Yangju

Slow down outside Seoul with a song as your starting point. Visit Iryeong, then travel to Jangheung for a meal. Jangheung is a food stop, not a filming location. Use a bus or taxi between the stops and plan your return transport.

• Iryeong Station forecourt

A filming location for the 2017 Spring Day music video. Trains run here today: stay in public areas such as the forecourt and never enter the tracks.

• Jangheung Korean Food Village

A cluster of restaurants for a relaxed meal. Compare menus and prices before choosing. The course photo shows this food stop.

Themed routeBusan

From warm alleys to harbor breezes

The Attorney · Huinnyeoul and Yeongdo Bridge, Busan

Read Busan through everyday streets that recall the film. Explore Huinnyeoul, then take a bus or taxi to Yeongdo Bridge for harbor views. The bridge is a scenic extension, not a filming claim. This route excludes the lower Jeoryeong coastal trail.

• Huinnyeoul Culture Village

A filming location for The Attorney (2013). Enjoy the alleys and sea while keeping doorways clear and respecting residents’ private space.

• Yeongdo Bridge

Finish with harbor and city views from the pedestrian area. The route does not depend on seeing the bridge lift.
